Rug Cleaning made easy
Professional rug cleaning and carpet square cleaning will help considerably with the longevity and appearance of these furnishings. Regular maintenance including vacuuming, prompt attention to stains and periodic cleaning can only benefit in the long-term.
Construction:
Carpet Rugs and Squares have many different fibres and also construction techniques. Common fibres include wool, nylon acrylic and polypropylene. These fibres will tend to react in different ways with regards cleaning. The actual construction of the carpet, whether tufted, woven or knotted will also have a bearing on how the rug behaves with regards maintenance and cleaning. For example a wool rug will often give off fibre for the life of the rug. It will however improve over time with regular vacuuming and cleaning. Try not to use a ‘beater-brush’ vacuum cleaning head on these carpets as it will tend to strip fibre out.
Polypropylene carpet squares often behave a little strangely. Self-backed squares such as these are all poly. And what effects it is sudden changes in humidity. Such as actual cleaning. They will often crinkle up around the edges and get ‘waves’ on them. This will settle down over a period of time. I suggest if it is a problem to simply put a couple of books on the edges and leave overnight. This will fix the issue.
Care should be taken when vacuuming around edges of rugs and carpet squares. Try not to hit the edges too hard with the vacuum cleaner. Weekly vacuuming should suffice.
Most rugs can be cleaned quite successfully. Hot water extraction cleaning by a professional is normally the best way to go about this.
Child-Care centres:
Regular cleaning of carpet squares in Child-Care centres is a very good idea. Soiling and sand can be problematic with regards the hygiene of the centre. Cleaning will alleviate some problems associated with this. Especially if ‘accidents’ occur. We can offer an emergency service when accidents occur. Picking up the square, cleaning and returning when convenient.
Another way to maintain rugs is with the application of a soil and stain retardant treatment. In addition making cleaning easier, these treatments last quite well and give you time to remove stains quickly and easily. Finally, using the Fibregard Spot remover will help remove stains as well.
