Rug Care and Carpet Square Cleaning

Firstly, for over 30 years P.J’s Carpet Care has been providing quality cleaning, advice and maintenance for rug care and Carpet Square cleaning. We use the hot water extraction method to clean rugs. Hot water extraction is a proven method for the cleaning of carpets, rugs and upholstered furniture. For general spot and stain removal, please refer to our Stain Removal guide.  For the most part, these recommendations will apply to most rugs including wool rugs. If in any doubt please contact us. Remember not to rub fibers too much especially wool fibers. It is recommended to only Gently wipe or blot areas as needed.

Rug Care and Storage

The storage of carpet squares and rugs is important. Incorrect storage may result in out of shape squares and rugs. This could be difficult to fix. Carpet squares and rugs should always be stored rolled up, not folded. Folded rugs and carpet squares may get a crease in them that is very difficult to remedy. Wool rugs need extra care when thinking about storage. Wool fibres are susceptible to being eaten by moths and carpet beetle. When storing wool rugs, roll the rug up and prior to bagging put some naphthalene flakes inside. Then bag the rug tightly and seal with masking tape.
