Carpet Steam Cleaning, Hot Water Extraction

Firstly, Carpet steam cleaning is more accurately called ‘Hot water Extraction’,which is the method we use. The water used is very hot. Especially from our truck mounted carpet cleaning machine. This machine generates its own power and heat. Superior cleaning results from having hotter water. It also aids with the removal of stains and with the drying of the carpet.

Steam Cleaning and Drying time

Drying time depends on a couple of factors. How soiled the carpet is, what sort of fiber and what type of day. Man-made fibers tend to dry quicker as they are less absorbent compared to natural fibers such as wool. Depending on the day most carpet will be dry in 2-3 hours. Possibly quicker with light soiling and ceiling fans.

Inspection

An inspection of the carpet first will show any potential areas that need attention. This could include stains that need treatment or possible damage such as ultra-violet light degradation where extra care is required.

Pre-spray

Firstly a pre-spray of a quality carpet cleaning detergent is applied and given dwell time. This is important to loosen oils that hold on to dirt. Without a dwell time the carpet will not clean as well. Also it could take longer to clean and longer to dry. T

Cleaning

Following the pre-spray is the extraction process. Similar to a rinse the soiling is rinsed away leaving the carpet residue free.

 

After cleaning

After cleaning a carpet will be slightly damp. Minimise use and traffic. Leaving furniture off as much as possible will aid in drying. The drying time will depend on the factors above. Also, assisted drying is available with carpet driers.
