Carpet Spot Removal
Spots and stains on carpet can look unsightly and spoil the entire look of the carpet, but carpet spot removal need not be daunting. Prompt attention is important. Also using the correct procedure really helps with spot removal. Some stain removal procedures could well set the stain into the carpet. In fact some cleaning agents will take the colour out of the carpet completely.
Carpet Spot Removal: Red Wine
Red wine is one of the more common spills on carpet. Firstly an absorbent powder should be used liberally on the stain and left overnight. After vacuuming up the powder the next day, the carpet needs to be sponged with a solution of mild detergent, white vinegar and warm water. It is important to attend to red wine stains as soon as possible. As with other stains prompt attention is advisable.

Blood
For blood stains, only cold water is very important. Luke warm or hot water will set the stain in the carpet. Start from the outside working to wards the center. Assisting with drying as needed.
Carpet Spot Removal: Makeup
For Makeup carpet spot removal of eye liner, lipstick, foundation, mascara and so on gently wiping with Methylated Spirits or Mineral Turpentine will be sufficient. Take your time starting from the outside in.
General Food and Drink
For all your general food and drink spills a solution of one teaspoon wool detergent (Softly, Martha Gardeners) with one teaspoon of white vinegar and one litre of warm water will suffice. Always clean up the excess first. Then sponge the area gently (don’t rub too much) trying to remove as much moisture as possible. Follow this with assisted drying such as a personal fan if necessary.
Pet Stains
For general pet staining, promptly cleaning the excess and sponging with mild detergent, white vinegar and warm water is recommended. You must get to these stains as soon as possible. Leaving for any length of time can make the carpet spot removal very difficult.
Dye Stains
Dye stains can be very difficult or impossible to remove. Attend to immediately. Firstly flushing with liberal amounts of water is the best way. Drying the carpet will be much easier than getting the dye stain out.
Rust Stains
We regularly clean rust stains from carpet in both households and commercial premises. The longer the stain is there the more work may be involved n the removal. However in a normal circumstance removal is quite successful. We use a product specifically designed for rust stains. For clothing and similar K2r Rust Remover is quite a good. Follow the directions making note that flushing with water is very important.
