Massive stains and their removal
This is another massive stain that required quite a bit of work to remove. More because of the size than the product. But the cause of the stain was a new one for me I think. Activated Charcoal, a tablet for dogs.
Similar to Carbon based stains, as a powder the first step is to give the carpet a thorough vacuum. Starting with any form of liquid such as a spot remover will ‘wash’ the powder into the carpet making it harder and more time consuming to remove in the long run.
This stain was already ‘wet’, having been washed into the fibres. And really didn’t look good at all. Having this stain on any carpet would be quite upsetting for anyone. However, being originally a powder there is always hope and with a little work a good result can be achieved. Starting with a carpet detergent and working for a while removed the bulk of the stain. And finishing with a wet solvent before cleaning the entire room resulted in the carpet looking quite acceptable to the customer. I removed all these products with warm water after.
The result was quite good
Note in the above image there is some previous colour loss from someone using something not designed for carpet.
The dog is o.k. He is feeling much better now. And the customer is also feeling much better. It is a win all around.
As usual when attempting to treat a massive stain such as this, prompt attention, common sense and taking your time will normally result in the best possible outcome as far as removing spots and spills goes.
Your office chairs will sometimes drop small amounts of graphite from the spinning part of the chair. The same steps taken in the house or office will also normally result in a satisfactory outcome. A stain that looks bad can often be remedied quite well.
Customers will find the Stain Removal Page helpful in these circumstances or alternatively contact us for any help as required. Remember if you are in any doubt about what products to use on a particular stain, I am more than happy to try to work something out over the phone.
